Description

This sky walk is in the Reserva Biologica Bosque Nuboso Monteverde and is about 100-ft. above the forest floor. It was in this reserse that I saw-and heard- a Mantled Howler Monkey. Unfortunately I was on the forest floor and the Howler was in the tree canopy, more than 100-ft. up. I did not take a picture because the light conditions were bad, and my lens wasn't long enough. But the sound this monkey made was loud enough in volume that it could easily have been made by an animal the size of an elephant. Yet these monkeys weigh only between 5kg to 8kg. On a previous upload, dated 'Monteverde Cloudforest' and dated 10 December 2004 I show a view from the sky walk. This picture was taken on 10 December 2004. This is something I can only dream of Sig, I have always wanted to go up into the canopy of a rain forest, ever since seeing David Attenborough in one many many years ago. At that time I was fit and healthy and stoney broke, so couldn't fund one anyhow. He was swinging about on a wire though, not on a posh walkway like this one. Superb capture, thanks for sharing, like PJ, seeing photo's of these exotic places is our only way of seeing them. Bravo!!!!!
