Description

This part of Ireland (Achill Island) was considered to be the spiritual home of Louis MacNeice 1907 -1963 my favourite Poet. His father was born in this part of Ireland, and much of his career success was due to a generous lady who admired his work who came from the region. In my forthcoming trip to Ireland it is a place I plan to visit again.. Perhaps for me his greatest poem "Prayer before Birth", written long before the troubles of today I find so strangely prophetic it beggars belief.. http://www.artofeurope.com/macneice/mac1.htm Thanks for taking time to view and any comments you care to make

Ah. What a beautiful capture, this must've been my home in a past life. When I take a nap, I dream here. What amazing and lovely places and people this country gives the world. Such great natural, Earthly beauty in this shot, yet is seems like an outpost at the edges of the Universe. 10,000 volts of inspiration. Here, everyone is a poet.

That poem is very exciting. I can feel the spirit begging for a clean and just place, for all the things that nurture and if they can not be provided, what is the point in struggling against all the ills... why be at all? Such a great poem and a poet I was not familiar with. My favorite poets have been Rod McKuen and EE Cummings... two styles very dissimilar but both strong. As for this lovely vale with the lake nestled between the rolling greens, it is also quite poetic and your capture is rich in mood and beauty. I'd like to go here as well.

Excellent colors Dan, and the narrative tempted me to read the poem again. Why do I think you also quoted from this poem a long time ago? Be as it may, striking poem...

This far enough away to have no iron but uninfomred about stone. Cultivation demands kelp from the sea. That's all I know about it except stories about fairies and journeys.
