Description

Being an avid animal lover I have watched and listened to birds all my life. But this one is a first for me. I don't know if they even have these in Washington state and I do not recall ever hearing the sound they make. About five weeks ago the awesome male bird showed up in my backyard but was very skittish and always in a dark area where I couldn't get a clear shot. Now I know the sound as he moves nearer to the yard early morning each day. But I was totally delighted to see this baby at the feeders about a week or two ago! I was only about 2 feet from the ground feeder when he flew down. He didn't seem as skittish as the adult bird and just went about eating while I stood there, but I remembered how skittish the adult was so I just quickly snapped a few shots. I tried the zoom but it wasn't good for this bird as he blended into the background too much. So its not a quality photo but again its a first for me! I should also say that all of my firsts are because of my Alex. I had never been to New York before, he moved me here, nearly 3000 miles from my 'home'. Thats the biggest first! Thanks for looking and for previous comments!

Mmmm, I don't think I've ever seen one of those before. Interesting effects you've used to bring the eye in.

Blue jays are fun, very pretty in color and yet many dislike them for their habits... Great capture!

I love your "first". I also started off with the feeder being far and gradually moved the feeder for the fruit eaters to about 6 feet from a window. Now I do most of the captures from there.
