Description

Captured 7/10/08, around 7:20 AM, about 1.1 miles/1.77 kilometers from my weathered wickiup. Both photos of the same flower; the original on top, the postworked version at the bottom. The struggle continues with another hazardous venture into the arena of the capricious red rose. Using the Curves filter, I increased the contrast in an effort to give this specimen some character. I think it came out quite well. Since these are value judgements, you may feel otherwise and prefer the original. Thanks for popping in, and any and all kind and uncritical comments are always welcome.

My ex-wife had an older ex-Marine who was obsessed with 86. He claimed his son who was a bartender said it was code for cutting off a patrons drinks. This was in Long Beach.

When I looked a thumb I said...good another red rose from you. I prefer a top untouched version, somehow I see it more red. The bottom just as nice with a bit of the cyclamen shade.

The textures come out much better on the bottom one. Excellent color and a pleasing specimen.

Wow! Both are excellent rose shots, Harry, and I'm certainly no pro, but the reason I prefer number 1 is because of the almost phosphorescent glare on the leaf of the lower one. Make sense?

Very, very hard to choose Harry - They both have loads of merit. (I'm afraid I'm going to stay undecided!) I lovely the delicate folds and the the velvety look of the petals. You have captured this one magnificently! :)
