Description

Sometimes humanity's stubborn side is a good thing. Other times, perhaps it might not be described as such. On a dry and dusty world a group of colonists built what they hoped would be the start of a new utopian life. Several generations later, the world is not any further developed, and the glittering tower that was to be the beacon of a new life is dusty, worn, and tarnished. The colonists remain. They continue to strive for a new way of living that will be better than what has been done before. While I can admire their unwillingness to surrender, I wonder at the strength to which they cling to that dream, even as it seems to be worn down by the constant dust-ridden winds of this difficult place. -From "Travels in this Human Universe", a collection of essays by explorers, settlers, and researchers some 150 years after humanity's first extra-solar colony was founded. ------ Mostly done in Bryce, this was actually several renders of the same scene with different textures, all composited in Photoshop during postwork. Thanks for taking a look!

Great textures and story! I wonder, though if that thing would topple over in a stiff breeze. Must be a fairly low gravity place (or a deep basement). Love the look of the scene; definitely a dry and dusty place.

Like Gierla, I think it would topple. Wouldn't they use shuttles and tear the thing apart for building materials to be shipped downworld. Think this one would have been even better if there had been some signs of buildings and the colonists' presence.
