She had seen its wraith unleashed on other who failed it, and shrank back from the eye tyrant until naked body pressed against the cold iron bars of the empty slave pen. The pen she should have filled. She had hoped that humiliating her by demanding she face it like this, naked before it’s other agents, would be enough to sake it’s cruelty. She could feel their lecherous eyes roam over her charms, especially her own second, Colstan Rhuul, who would have her as his slave in an instant if he could, and Ahmaergo. The “horned dwarf” had made no secret of his lust for her… A thought that revolted her. Then a ray sprang from one of the beholder’s eye-stalks, and she felt the magical force clench her breasts, squeezing them painfully. “Be thankful that I am content to ‘play’ with the charms that failed you,” the Eye hissed. “You know I could do much worse!” Avaereene bowed her head in acceptance, gritting her teeth against the pain. She would not scream before the others, no matter how painful her punishment, she would not give them the satisfaction! She knew first hand that the Eye could inflict much worse humiliations on her. It had before, and would likely do so again. It delighted in reminding her that, as powerful as she is, it is still her master. For now…" First among the Agents of the Eye, also known as the Xanathar Thieves' Guild, Avaereene leads the Hand; slavers who prowl the seamier wards of Waterdeep. As cruel and heartless as she is beautiful and seductive, she is a skilled wizard, with dreams of one day to supplanting Khelben “Blackstaff” Arunsun as the most powerful mage in Waterdeep, but delights in the simple power her beauty has over men, using her wiles alone to lead her victims to their fate in chains. Daeron Anane earned Avaereene's wraith when he “insulted” (i.e. kissed) her while intervening in one of the Hand's grabs. An act she has sworn to make him pay dearly for, but she has taken no action to do so. My latest rendition of the imfamous non-player character from published Dungeons & Dragons material...
