Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

We were groovy! LOL I was a flower child rather than a hippie. I had the flowers in my hair and alternated between faux leather mini skirts and peasant blouse, and ankle long granny dresses. Never got to SF until I had been forced to mature in order to take care of my second child but the spirit lives on. :-) Great shot, Marilyn.

These are reminiscent of days long gone now when "bad" was still "good" and people could still feel safe. Lovely thoughts.

Most of the denizens of Haight-Ashbury are the originals, I'm afraid...and time and drugs haven't treated them too well; the smell of urine in the doorways is more apparent than the scent of flowers. But I also remember those days with longing, it seemed so innocent and exciting back then...thanks for the reminder, Marilyn, and nice work!

Seeing the capture of the street sign is like seeing a photo of the Golden Gate Bridge. One knows exactly the place, the era and for many, the memories.

From the lyrics, I assume you don't Hate Ashbury. Good to see you added some postwork spice to these photos of the infamous street corner and the ever lovely hibiscus. It looks like either a noise, median or grain filter used with the hibuscus. As for the inhabitants, the local government politicians are loons for sure. Among other idiotic things, they have turned San Francisco into a sanctuary city for every kind of ne'er-do-well.
