Description
A while back, Chris (cmolsen2002) posted an image entitled "Glorious Hibiscus" and I fell in love. She graciously gave her permission for me to use that photograph as a reference for a painting, and this is the result. You can check out her original photograph here.
Special thanks to Helle, who is tenacious about reminding me that I should be painting once in a while, not just taking photographs! :) Okay, my friend. Here you have a painting. This was lots of fun! Now ... your turn ... don't forget you should be painting once in a while too, my dear! :)

yes, you certainly should be painting again. This is beautiful tara, and has real intensification of hue esp towards the center, where you've used violets and even deep muddy violets so expressively. Paintings really transform the given image, bring out what's inherent in the given image, and this brings out essences that are in the beautiful original (I'll visit her gallery soon). And you've accented those traits, and made a very sensual image. And bright yellow for the stamens was a great choice, as was the black background. Beautiful.
