Description

Here is another one that's been resurrected from my 80% complete folder - a USN fast attack hunter killer unit. I've always liked the idea of these massive, flying naval vessels, though despite what one would assume are some pretty advanced positioning systems, I still insist on having them tied off at dock with traditional ropes ;) The real star of this scene is a slightly kit bashed EDF Andromeda by Don Gaiser (foundation3d.com), so thanks to Don for making it available. Thanks for looking!

Brilliant vessel - it's a flying sub. The intakes are excellent, as is the lighting and detail. Great work.

I like the look, kind of retro, especially with the Dreadnought guns and bunting. The tie ropes ground it in that retro reality too. Only one small niggle, I think the DOF blur might be too strong, at least on the ship anyway.

Wonderful composition and lighting. Of special note is all the detail texture work, which really sells the reality of the concept. Great mood and atmosphere, too! Aw heck, a new fave on all levels!

Big Ship + Big Guns = Hot! - I really like the texturing and modeling you have done here. Very nice dock setup as well - I like the moving of supplies to the ship. I wonder why you are using standard kinetic rifle turrets? are they lasers or are you considering rail guns? I have always thought the standard turrets was an interesting retro idea that has managed to survive as a feature of future ship design.

Finishing off the 80% lingerers, again I must say, that you're an inspiration. Here's the kind of detail this model doesn't get to show off much as folks would probably go for a wider shot of the whole ship. Glad you've got some humans in the foreground for scale. The two guys talking are probably discussing how the aft guns haven't melted being so close to the exhaust. ; ) Looking forward to the next one, don

Kool use of DOF and overall composition, I agree, tying up a behemoth like this with ropes is crazy, but a fun concept, must be an Anime thing ? BTW, the flags are a neat touch, very well done ! ~Cheers~
