Description

I got a lot of shots like this.I know it soft focus or the person moved. This is in low lighting and at the time I did not how a flash but on my camera and a long time I did not beleive in useing it. I see now I need one and I did buy a good one. may cost me too much. I see later. I like this in a abstract way and the the looks of the strings hit me and it look like his thumb went across the strings too as the gold color cuts across two of the strings for sure. I at a coffee shop now and on high speed yes yes yes. so happy now thanks for looking and comments. Tell me if you think I going in the right way here. I alway chaseing rabbits and I get no wheres. Thought about photo people and weddings to make money; but I do not think I can do that. I not good with people and people telling me what to do. Is it pride; or is it a artist way of running from the real world and into his own world?? One person wish for me to design a book cover and he wish to change what I did . I got upset with him. I think it pride and I have to overcome it. Why I telling you this stuff. So it may help you in the same area of your life or to tell me something about how life is. I just looking at the pit falls in my life. Hope to help others. Maybe I should not tell but put on a mask of macho man "I can do it all by myself" but that mask would be wrong. I need to get a life. Only people I talk too is you all which is the best friends in the world.

I'm always a little uncertain when technical things are presented as "abstract." But go ahead it can't hurt.

I think it's a great piece and a good direction for finding your strengths. You've obviously been drawn to these people and their instruments for a long time, and there's a saying you probably heard, "Do what you love and the money will follow." I think it's true, and not knowing what you truly love might be the hard part. I like putting clothes on the 3D models, but one day I realized I'm just mostly intrigued and don't really love more of it that I had admitted to myself. The things I love, I forget I'm spending the time on, and I forget everything else.

Very interesting capture, Jock. It is the nature of the business for the payer to tell the payee what to do, but not how to do it, when it comes to the subjective world of the arts.

excellent pov Jock.your camera does not have a built in flash?for most things it will work fine.maybe it needs to be raised in value or lowered.I change mine all the time for the situation.I have a big flash also but do not use it unless I am taking portraits and bounce the light off another surface

I love this shot. It belongs in the book! The light is wonderful, and it has a great mood. ..... Maybe it's okay for someone to look at 50 of your photographs and say, "I'll take these 30 images and put them in a book," but I don't think you should have to go along with someone who says, "I like your work, but can you change how you're doing this, or take different sorts of pictures?" I designed a poster for some people. Got their ideas to begin with, made up about six versions, said okay, what do you like, and what don't you like, narrowed it down, and made two more from what they said they liked best. It was fun, and I didn't really care what the end result looked like, as long as I'd done a good job. I wasn't very invested in what they wanted ... it was just a simple poster. I suppose it depends on how much you care about what you're doing. (I guess I really DON'T care, 'cause it's not in my gallery! LOL! Maybe I should put something together and post it so you can see what I did.) But then another person wanted to take one of my photographs and use it for something else (and give me credit, of course) but they wanted to crop it differently than what I'd done. I said no. I made the art the way I wanted it, and that's the way it is. So I think you have to decide what you can live with, as an artist, and what you can't, and go from there. There's a difference between doing a job and making art. I guess I had a lot to say about that!

Tara says it all just right, you can do what you want, how you want, and if people like it, that's all well and good. If they're paying you for something specific, you both need to know what it is they want, and that it will have YOUR touch. If I were getting married, I'd love for you to take the pix, cuz I'd know you'd find the REAL stuff, you see the heart and soul in everything you do. This foto and all your other music fotos prove that without a doubt. Don't change a thing.

There are two types of artists as I see it. The ones who create for others and those who create for themself. The ones who create for others do magazines, professional portraits, and billboards. Those who do it for just them may not make the money of the other type, but they stir passion in themself. Some artists manage to do both - would Picasso or Salvador Dali compromise on their style? My father once told me that its all in the marketing. People are out there who want to buy what you have to sell. You just have to find how to reach them. (He was a rare and antique book dealer...) You can always be an agent for the "talent-challenged," who have ideas they can't possibly achieve, and you can continue to do the marvelous art that comes from your heart. Just don't ever give up one for the other. You have a gift that few have and it would not be right to trade that in for someone else's dream. This is a fabulous abstract. The connection to music that you love so much is evident.

I think you did very well in the abstract! Great mood. About having friends here and not doing it all on your own? Nothing wrong with that, that is why we have each other...

Jocko I can relate to what you say about your work and pleasing others who may want to change your way of doing things. I used to paint Acrylics, I sold a few paintings to raise money for our art group funds. There were a few who liked my work, they thought I had some tallent but most wanted me to paint portraits of their pet dogs or even their children. One person said they liked a local Church I had painted but wanted a larger one and maybe a add a brassband playing! I figured that his vision of the scene would not be the same as mine. Consequently I don't paint anymore! It has become unenjoyable. I just take photo's now (for myself) and I can share them with all these wonderful people here and get pleasure. You have stirred something up with me here Jocko! Your work is YOURS it has great artistic value Jocko and you have your own way of doing things. superb image my friend.

I think your photography captures the very essence of the medium; namely (hopefully) what the artist sees and or feels. Your shots have that quality for me. A soft focus tells a story ... it creates a mood ... it suggests a feeling. Perhaps it is making a statement. What you do and how you do it is YOU ... it is our privilege to behold your creations to look at our own mirror (understand how we are affected by things) and to try and understand the complexity and uniqueness of what moves you ... or just the world ... or the moment you captured. In other words, your photos create connections within ourselves, too others, to the world, a moment in time, to universality and to you. Whatever you offer is, therefore, a gift and an opportunity. THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
