Description

Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held images. Well MrsLubner has proven her theory. At least in principle. Her method has produced at least one correct answer so far, lol. She and a few others were pretty darn close. I do not know the exact distinction between plant hoppers and leaf hoppers but this is a plant hopper (they usually have a big pointy bump on their head but this species doesn't). Close enough for me, lol. Yesterday's critter was a nymph Plant hopper. Probably "Acanalonia conica". The adult is green and has a body length of about 6mm. They are found through out the eastern United States and southern Ontario, Canada. Todays critter was a new one for me. I had never seen one before but at least I knew what it was. Usually, the reverse is true. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

What an amazing little creature! I have no idea what it is, but it's a great capture. Bunny

Dang...now I have to come up with another bug name... LOL. Ok, best guess now is the Hag Moth catepillar? I believe that might be why its not on your finger since they have stinging hairs on them. and if I get a second guess, maybe a Monkey Slug? I'm just not sure about the color so I can't pin it on one or the other. :-)

Great shot my friend. This thing is truly remarkable - I definately agree with "left in the bottom of a sewing basket and tossed aside" :)
