Description

Upload: 042 HV Title: Beauty re-defined Series: DVC Collection Location: Our home Date: February 21, 2008 Image: N08298M1c-FNLjpg Camera: Nikon D70, Full Frame Commentary: This collage being the first in a series of three was created differently then the other two. It is much more polished and conveys camera ready artwork as found in the graphic design industry. The other two pieces are more realistic and have a feel of embodiment to the materials employed, whereas this pieces is the opposite, hence its title Beauty re-defined. The collage material comes from a large billboard and instead of featuring the printed images, most of the pieces have been mounted in reverse, showing the backside for a more subdued feel and allowing for greater focus upon the model and verbiage. In addition to the torn billboard material, gift wrapping tissue paper, dress pattern tissue paper and spray paint for the lettering of BEAUTY, including a black Sharpie permanent marker were used in the creation of this collage painting. This artwork is 20 x 20 inches (50.80 x 50.80 cm) and all the pieces were glued to a gesso- primed canvas using gel medium. The entire finished collage was coated with a semi-gloss acrylic protector. I wish Renderosity would have a 2D section for artwork that is non-computer aided or computer generated so that real water colours, oil and acrylic paintings or any real 2D art work can be viewed in its proper environment like in other categories. I hope that at some point Renderosity will create such a venue. For now I shall continue to upload within the photography category as it mirrors my previous work.

superior work! i agree with your wish as to new catagories. sadly, photography is really a step-child here in what is essentially a poser venue.

Gorgeous work. The two (rust?) spot at the bottom right bring to mind a vampire's bite that has drained the expected beauty from this image, leaving behind what is seen here. Sadly the digital and traditional 2D image have just one the one category here n Rendo. Separate categories would be a good thing, I agree.

Egmont, your collages are always so meaningful and thought-provoking; especially when your caption gives a new perspective as well; shedding a different light; and providing an alternate framework or lens to see your artwork through! I love the artistic touch of the fashion, and the concept of something being "redefined", which ironically is a metaphor for the very work that you produce. You add new meaning and give symbollic understanding to your viewers on the images and abstracts that you put before us. Marvellous and most talented ideas and artwork, Dear Friend!

At first, I thought this was like your earlier work, when these 'collages' were more like found objects. I'm sure you will remember, I was a big fan of those. I must say, I am equally impressed with this. While it was wonderful before, when it was all about your crop and capture, and of course, your eye for 'finding' the subject, now you are actually creating it yourself... and I must say, it is absolutely every bit as meaningful and masterfully done. Bravo. Regarding RR...I once faced the same issue. I had a photo of one of my oil paintings. Since it was a photorealistic painting of an old family photo, ( not to mention how it can be quite the challenge! to accurately shoot art work ), I thought the photogallery was the correct place for it. But I was asked to move it to 2D.... But the bottom line is this...This is a photograph, and as such, belongs somewhere within this gallery...at least in my opinion... Anyway, thank you once again for sharing your techniques and your always inspiring work with us, Egmont. All my best- M :^)
