Description

(BEST VIEWED FULL SIZE!) "Tink." She was following an old game trail in her search for a path up the mountain, when she heard the quiet sound of metal-on-metal from the roadway below. Another horseman carefully made his way through the Aeritan Forest. He traveled in the general direction of Melius, but from the opposite direction than that of the Greeners she had seen a few days earlier. She examined him carefully and saw he wore no green at all. And that wasn't the only difference: Where the Greeners had crashed through the forest in their haste to get to Melius, this man was taking his time and examining the countryside very carefully. He was alert and rode his horse well with ease borne of years in the saddle. His armor and weapons were a bit worn but in excellent repair - they were like extensions of his body. For a moment she thought he had spotted her when he stopped and dismounted in the roadway. She was relieved when he merely stroked his horse's mane and spoke a few calming words as he examined the road for recent travel. He seemed a study in contrasts. Dangerous... but reserved? Strong... but soft-spoken? Competent... but cautious? She wasn't sure what to make of him. After a bit, he remounted and slowly moved down the road. Aranée estimated it would take him three or four days to get to Melius at this pace. She wondered if the Greeners would still be there - and if the dark stranger would survive the meeting. --- TO BE CONTINUED! View the series in numbered sequence to get the entire story. Many, many good vendors represented here, space won't permit listing them all. This piece has been a bit trying - caused repeated crashes in D/S for some reason. (That's why the "Mixed Medium" this time, had to PW in some features to finish the composition.) Thanks for viewing- and PLEASE leave a few words! Image and story © 2008 Larry Hodge

Excellent perspective work and point of view. You've got her in sharp focus but the rider is a bit fuzzy, as he should be. There is a sense of drama and you can tell that she is really focused on listening rather than seeing him. Great eye work, very clear and focused with excellento positioning.

I love the way you set up this particular image, the close-up on her, and the rest of the world behind her shoulder. Another great episode in this series. Keep them coming.

I love the expression on her face in this one! It really has the look of someone straining to see and hear without being seen or heard. Wonderful POV!

I see there are lots of really appropriate comments on your technique already, so I wont' repeat the obvious, other than to add my praise on top of all the others for the excellence of this image. The POV is especially god, IMHO. You really have captured the moment here, and your narrative had my full attention. This story has already become addictive!
