Description

Here's another shot from Michael's lovely home. I had so much fun taking pictures there! He hasn't seen any of these, btw, so it will be like a little party every time I post one. :) I loved the diagonal of the lampshade, the tree trunk and the rocks in the corner against the straight lines of the fence, the lamp pole and the millwork on the window. The contrast between the soft organic of the vegetation and the stark geometry of the lampshade. And of course the natural light vs. the incandescent light. See how the millwork reflects the light above and below the event horizon of the lampshade? Not just on the corner post, either ... you can even see it on the mullions. And then, like an unexpected grace note, the perfect spheres of the little pull-things on the lamp. (What ARE those called, anyway?) The only round thing in the image, but they're echoed by those two rocks out by the fence. There's just so much going on here, I just had to tell you about it! :)

I see what you mean about all the elements coming together for a harmonious composition; I might have tried a closer crop to focus more on the lampshade and the vertical of the corner behind it, with only some of the curving tree as a side note...but that's just me. You certainly nailed this one, it's clear and pleasing, and now I'd like to see it with a sunset behind it! :)

Your accompanying narrative says it all in this fantastically clear and colorful myriad of glass, windows and outdoor background, Tara. But millwork, mullions, little pull-things? What an arcane lexicon on display here.

The lampshade is gorgeous. I'm glad you pointed out all the different elements, because I would never have made all the connections. Very well done, both the photo and the explanation.

This is superb Tara, an excellent shot and a great narrative, the lampshade says Tiffany, I wonder if it is? Now that I have seen it on the inside or FROM the inside I now want to see it from the outside. I would love to be stood outside at dusk, just as Trent or David switches the light on. That should be one warm glow from within. I had already noticed the lamp light and day light on the corner post but on reading your description I had to go back several times to see more. A very artistic image, like you say it is busy and has so much going for it. Has to be a favourite for me, I hope this climbs the art charts. Stunning capture. Bravo!!!!!

Wonderful geometrics involved in this shot. I'd analyze it further but you did that for me. Outstanding capture and a good eye for it from you.
