Description

this is what I first saw when I was driveing down the road and I turned around to get some shots of them planting sugar cane. The cane they plant now will not be ready intill next year. it takes two years to grow. In the back groung is the sugar mill. Oh I was so happy this one came out so good. I put the camera on auto for a few shots then I put it on manul lol wish I kept it at auto. My big error. Most likey will not be the last but hope it not many times this happens. I had it set for low lighting for the cajun jams I go to. lol. Here you see the tractors pulling the trailers full of cane. the cane have eyes on them. IThe man I talked to show me the eyes two times. guess he thought I was going to take a photo of them but I did not caught on . Now i wish i did. I go and take some photos of canes eyes when it is sunny . Been raining here off and on for two days anyway there is three men walking behind most the trailers pulling the cane out by hand and laying it down in the rows of dirt. Not on top the row but in the vally. I post the tractor that will cover the cane with two feet of dirt tomorrow

Stark contrast and marriage of dark and light in this shot of the tractors and trailers, Jock. They look like toy trucks from this distance. You really had the DOF going great guns on this capture.

Yes, good shot, Jock. I like the way the darker foreground area is presented...that way you can see the rows of cane being laid down in the background.

I was wondering how they were actually planted. Two feet of dirt is an awful lot of dirt and two years is quite a wait. Thank you so much for the information and the great shot, Jocko!

Two feet is a deep furrow! Wow. That's very interesting. Sort of like planting potatoes I guess. I had no idea cane grew from eyes. Wonderful information and good clear shots to demonstrate your story.

Oh, today is my tractor day! Andrea posted a darling one, and now all these, great shot. Then we were driving down the interstate and saw an old jeep pulling the smallest tractor we'd ever seen. Wonderful image and explanation. Yes, the eyes. We need eyes. Hehe.

Wonderful work, Jocko! Very "scenic" (have no other word for it, sorry) Your POV is very well with the sugar mill in the background. From the middle of live and hard work. Wonderful! 5+
