Description

AloooooooHa! 5:33am and I have fiddled with my camera settings and jumped my ISO to 1250 and am down to 5.0 @ 1/50. I'm trying to keep up with the changing light and trying not get any long exposures. The clock is running on the magic 15 minutes and I'm trying to keep up with the action. Madam Pele waits for no one and a lot of shots are wasted trying to dial in the right settings...I'm so confused at this point. The camera can't seem to keep with the ever changing light and I'm getting a bunch of blurry crap-ola. At this point, I just kept shooting and hoping for the best. At this time I catch my first glimpse of the large plume of smoke that has gone pretty much unnoticed by me all night because of the darkness. I'm so stoked to see the plume at first light. Awesome color and fireworks in this shot! I like the gradual lighting in your shots as thing become more visible. I think you've done a fantastic job capturing the lava~ =)

Whoa Na'e...They just keep getting more and more spectacular. I love the smoke in this, especially that really dark tall plume. I can only imagine how excited you were to see it. Great reading the blow by blow, too. I'm looking forward to the next one...Hana Hou! LOL. -M :^)
