Description

AlooooooHa! The clock is ticking and daylight chases the night away. The plume that was hidden by darkness shows itself for the first time. The plume is much bigger than I would have imagined once it is revealed. Still struggling to get the shutter speed right I opt to shoot long exposures again to smooth out the billowing plume...Ok..I was just blasting away at times just trying to get something before this moment was gone....Dang, tough crowd...lol Many metric tons of smoke and acrid ash are thrown into the air as fire merges with water in an explosive meeting. Thank God the wind was blowing off shore...this is nasty stuff to breathe. The poor inhabitants on the Kona side of the island get the most of this vog everyday. It has a profound effect on many of the agricultural products that are grown on that side of the island. Health effects are still being studied...I don't think this could be good for you to breathe in everyday. If you look closely at the bottom left of the image you will be able to make out the ocean's horizon....Day light is coming fast. I'll post another morning image in tomorrows post. Thanks for having a peek and always a pleasure to read your comments on my previous posts....Aloha~

Now this picture is a trip... It looks like someone painted... I mean these cloud formations look totally unusual... If I was to have painted this exactly like this and tried to sell it as clouds, the buyer would tell me to repaint it - lol... nature always has to show me something new - thank you.

Fabulous series, Dave. This one is especially impressive, not just the subject but even more so the composition and toning of the colors. A treat..! Your work is admirable. ;o)

Wow! I agree that the compo and colours are stunning. A real focal point created by the red glow. Very well done, Clive

LOL at tough crowd.... It came out great, whether you did that on purpose or not. :^) I love that bit where the red and the blue become a beautiful purple...Once again, these are such a treat to see, Na'e. I love the long shutter speed on this one, Dave. The smoothing effect is similar to what I do on my waterfalls. This entire series is excellent. My only complaint is that I wasn't there with you and Errol.
