that is the sugar mill in the back. the cane you see standing in thebackground will be harvest in Oct thought Dec. the cane you see them putting down on the ground is part of this year crop and they cut a field which I saw. Now how all thoses feilds that be harvest at the end of the year get the cane back in the fields I do not know??? I see the feilds all the time full around this time of year. Hope to get more photos to see how that is done. of couse it be later on from now

It certainly looks like a hot and physically tiring occupation. My hat's off to them all, even the one resting. At least they show up to do a job I could not do and wouldn't even try to do. Love all the different aspects of sugar cane production seen here.

fascinating scene does make you wonder... but I agree with PJ these men have hard tiring jobs.. I am noticing the green awning I guess that is provided to shade the workers so that is good.. I say what ever job you have give it your all.. great photo!

Lovely image, and a wonderful capture of subject and idea! I like the way you've subtly pointed out some of the troubles in every society, and managed to present the issue so beautifully in your image! A great mood and atmosphere here in this composition!

Good shot of the workers and equipment in the field, Jock! Isn't there a bossman out there to whip some of these guys into shape? Can't have them goofing off. Raise cain if they're not picking cane. Tote that bale, move that barge!

Fascinating slice of the life of these farm workers! I like it that you got this as one of them was resting. Having worked on farms as a kid, I can tell you that it's hot, miserable work!

Interesting. I saw it on the roofing job, too. All of the workers on one crew don't get the same deal, and I don't even think they all get the same pay.

Wonderfully portrayed Jocko but yes I got to agree with others Jocko, I wouldn't like to do a job like this punishing work for I guess little reward. If there are slackers in the camp of anywhere they are usually driven out slowly by the disapproval of the rest of the team!
