Description

Yesterday a friend and I took a most amazing walk. We went into the Headwaters Forest**, an old growth redwood preserve. It was the source of a long, emotional battle for preservation. The trees were saved and these grand old giants will be around for years to come. As we walked, I was struck by the total silence, the spiritual feel, the light. It's like no other place on earth. Oh yeah, we walked about 9 miles, and yep, I wore my flip flops!! **click here

There is a spot on hwy 20 where my daughter and I always stop when we travel that way that has this same majestic feeling. I don't know if the lighting can compare though. This is really a beautiful shot.

The title brings to mind the novel, "The Light In the Forest," by Conrad Richter, a well-known American writer who lived only 6 miles from my hometown here in PA. Beautiful capture, Marilyn.

Awesome! Thanks for the link, it made interesting reading, so glad they managed to get a preservation order on the trees. Two thousand year old trees should be left in peace, they were there before man. Excellent capture Marilyn, the lighting is magical. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

A strong swath of light cuts through the darkness of the forest, revealing another of its giant creations. Fine capture, Marilyn, flip flops or not!

The forest must stay. Can you imagine how a place would look like without trees or a forest. I sure can. Beautiful capture. Aloha
