Ok, this is a great shot, but unless I'm color blind, this sure looks brown to me--am I missing something??? Or are blackbirds in England brown??? Hmmm, guess that would mean brown birds are black, blue birds are, well, heck, now I'm really confused!!

we had that situation 3 years ago. I was at a petrol station - well - without petrol... 500000 People 5 hours without electric power. No lift´s, no automatic doors, no cash point....and no petrol - chaos! :-) Nice picture - by the way...

This looks like a young female Mick, it's nearly always the opposite way round in the animal kingdom, the male is the dressy one and the female the frump. I better watch out for the daggers now after that comment I guess. I did say in the animal kingdom ladies, so please put those sharp objects away. Roflmao. Excellent capture. Bravo!!!!!

Although we are in little danger of losing the electricity, I am always ready for it (a habit picked up with I lived in hurricane territory...). I've got oil lamps trimmed and filled, I always insist on a gas stove and oven in the house, and the portable DVD player, PCs and games are all battery-charged. Since we have a free WiFi from down the street at the community center (may not be the strongest but it works in a pinch...) I am ready for any power outage. I love this bird shot. The detail is great. Not like one of our black birds, for sure. Even its body shape and the way of its tail are different. I think yours are much cuter.

Oh! Thanks for this one Mick, I have them in my yard and wasn't sure because they are brown that they were blackbirds. Great to know! Wonderful capture, great color and I like the wood 'frame', very nice composition! We lose power here alot too and I always have to shut my pc down in a storm because this house is so old the wiring will pop the breakers every time! In Washington state on Thanksgiving Day one year we had a storm that put the power out for a couple days...I had a houseful of guests, turkey in the oven and stuff on the stove..thank heaven we had a fireplace so I finished cooking everything in that! Unique Thanksgiving to say the least:-)

Lovely shot with some nice feather detail Mick, bit of a late comment from me as usual lol so I guess someone has put Marilyn right with - Female blackbirds are brown and the males are black. Summer has been another washout !
