Description
The part of the river in the foreground is a man-made channel that leads to Caversham Lock. The island currently belongs to the Environment Agency who still keep their patrol boats in the brick boathouse.
The small black building behind it is the old watermans house which is now derelict.
The Environment Agency are trying to sell this island for re-development and have recently moved the waterways department and depot off of it.
I wouldn't be surprised to see luxury riverside apartments being built on it in the not-too-distant future which would be a shame as it is quite picturesque - especially with those lovely clouds above it. :-)
Hope you like the scene and thanks for taking the time to have a look.

Wow, makes me wish I was rich so I could by the little island myself...put one tiny house on it, and make the rest a natural park! Beautiful scene!

Excellent capture of this beautiful place, I hate developers, they just ruin everywhere in the persuit of money, and you usually find they live out in the country, and are the first banner toting pillocks against a road through thier village..The movie Dumb and dumber springs to mind
