Description
Inspired by a picture of New Zealand that I saw recently. The Terrains were created in Geocontrol. Global Illumination and a mixture of Metaclouds and Spectral Cloud Layers with several lights. The waterfall is an alpha plane done with the waterfall brushes from Raptura.
Rendertime on this one was absolutely insane. About 73 hours on a Core 2 Quad with Custom render settings and a resolution of 3200x2000. Actually, there occured a rendering error while the image was being computed, so I had to render the upper third once again for another 20 hours. Please check the full-size version for maximum detail.
Postwork includes some sharpening, color correction and DOF with DOF Pro Plugin.

That's a powerful sky! I love those shadow/light contrasts in the clouds. The waterfall looks great, very realistic, thanks for the technique! Maybe the tree leaves on the top have a little bit too much ambient light (not enough shadow/light contrast). The ground in the foreground looks really good, in all aspects. Great sense of depth. Very good job!

A very special lightnig! I love the leaves of the trees! the work on the clouds is alls extraordinary!! Lets hope that the renderengine of vue7 is much faster!

Oh wow, really stunning work! I love your sky, the lighting, the terrains. If one could improve on perfection, I would say lose the trees that are on the mountain with the waterfall, but then, I could never ask you to re-render and it is really beautiful. 5+++++!
