Description
This was my entry into the Vue envionment Competition 2008. I don't know why, but Vue was incredibly slow while handling that scene, although there were 78 % free resources available. Everytime I clicked on something it took up to 40 seconds until there was a response from Vue, so workflow was absolutely horrible. Due to this problems I ran out of time and had to send in an unfinished picture. I am content with the foreground, but the background is quite lackluster and definitely needs to be redone. I think I might revisit this scene after some time has passed, but as of right now I don't want to open it again, to be honest ;-)
As for the creation process, I used a volumetric sunlight and a foreground terrain created in Geocontrol with the help of the lakes and rivers tool. I spent a lot of time working on the rivers and the water in Vue. As stated in the competition rules there was absolutely no postwork applied, although some sharpening and brightening up the shadows wouldn't have been too bad. Ah well, next time...
Used a lot of different Cornucopia Items on this one, including some Lush packages by Linda, Walli's "Dirty Nature" Pack, Bruno's free Pebbles and some flowers by Angela Hauer as well as some official e-on plants.

Yeah, i see what you mean. If you pan your eyes from front to back it does kinda go downhill(; looks great to start off with however. I would give it a redo myself, as it seems it will be worth it in the final(;

I like it - very nice Vue work.

Very beautiful. I love the colors, very diversified. There's a lot of elements to look at, all very well laid out and composed. It seems a lot of love went into the making of this scene. The sun is beautiful as it is but maybe a bit too big to be realistic, especially because we can see there is not sufficient haze in the air to disperse the light that much. But anyway, it's beautiful. One thing that maybe could be improved would be the water on the bottom left corner. Maybe it needs a bit more highlights or reflection. But if that is a distribution map from GC, that's not easy, I know that. By the way, you did a really fine work with the GC maps, really well detailed. Congrats on that. One thing that is visually a bit confusing is the border between water and land, near the flowers. Visually, there's an illusion (for me, at least) that the water is higher than the land. As to the rocks in the middle of the water, maybe they seem too smooth and white, they become distracting because of that, at least to me. One final note for the particularly lovely! distribution of vegetation all around. Excellent job!!

It has a lovely color palette and the time spent on the water shows I despise doing a ctrl-z to back up. I use it a lot in other programs but Vue takes forever to do even a tiny step back. I try not to use it but keep falling into doing it without thinking and then get frustrated by the time drain.
