Had to pick these as a child so my Mother could make jam. Kinda' spoiled my appetite for them. They make a great photo.

Oh, they're ripe all over here too....so many, it's almost a shame. More than anyone can possibly eat! Of course the best ones are too high or too far back into the brambles. At least the birds can eat, and whatever other wild animals do (no bears here, I hope) Beautiful shot of these little bites of perfection!

Ah the memories as a child our backyard fence had these growing along the entire length which had a large right-of-way for power lines and draining ditches for street sewers beyond it. We (the neighbors & sister)ate these quite casually. When I was at Glacier National Park I saw a black bear hunkered down in a blackberry bush eating away and immediately understood its ecstasy.

It took a long time to like them again after having to get all scratched up picking them as a kid, but now I buy jam and just tossed out an empty jar today as a matter of fact. They're one of my favorites, now, but not the sour ones! :D

When I was in Ft. Bragg on the upper California coast, I looked for some that were ripe - none were. This is a great shot and well defined berries.
