AloooooooHa! Morning finally breaks and the size of the Waikupuna plume is finally revealed in all her nastiness. This plume can be seen for many miles down the coast. Fortunately for those of us who live on the east side of the islands, we miss most of this vog as the normal trade winds blow it over to the west side of the island. But....every once in awhile the wind shifts for a couple days and we eat it badly on our side. This vog is quite nasty to breath in over long periods of time and is responsible for many respiratory problems among us islanders. You can still see the two gentlemen in the foreground snapping pics, it really gives you scale on how big this plume is. All night I kept thinking those two were completely nuts for getting so close to this plume. Tonight I will post a picture a little closer to the plume than I cared to be...I find I am as crazy as they are! As with all my posts, bigger is better.
