Description

AlooooooHa! It's just before 6am and I'm shooting like crazy before everything fades to black and white. Madam Pele puts on her show, and I stand in wonder at her beauty. This shot is the last shot in a 6 shot burst. I would have posted the full sequence but I don't think I could have gotten it all in. For those of you who wondered about the sound this makes, I have to tell you with the wind blowing off shore and the distance I was from the plume, I couldn't hear a thing all night. Seems unbelievable with the explosions of this magnitude that you couldn't hear it, but it's true. You can see the ash pile which has formed by the red hot lava falling continuously, creating this mound in the foreground of this image. This image was taken on the second morning I went out, if your wondering what happened to the two guys from the other images. Tonight I will post a full view of the plume and you will get to see the plume in it's entirety. Thanks for dropping by and many thanks for all the kind comments you have left on my previous posts in this series. Have a great weekend everyone...Aloha~

Blimey Dave spectacular if looking a tad dangerous to be that close to the eruption! I always think you have to take risks to grab the great shots but this is something else!!

And another great one...Boy that plume sure looks ominous, especially with all that red hot stuff spewing out of it....Was it very hot to stand there? I don't remember if you mentioned that... Anyway, like Danny said, you have to take risks to get the great ones, and this series was definately worth the risks. Until next time... Margana out. ;^)

those first few steam formations looked so unusual... now it's looking like what my imagination would picture.... Your series in my book is the best back to back to back pictures I've seen on this site in a long time. You have showed the whole world pictures of what many of us will never see in real life... I THINK YOU SHOULD GET ARTIST OF THE MONTH!!! I don't know how Rendo does that, but I'm going to put a plug in for ya... I haven't been able to work on my Bondage series, because of a airbrush painting I got into the last couple of weeks, but I'm in a part of the story soon where I want to make cloud formations... Can I use some of your pictures that you posted recently to create pictures for my story? - the pictures I create from your pictures won't match your pictures, They won't look like your pictures and truthfully, only you and I would know what I used - and then I would mention your series of pictures you have here - giving you credit - Just site mail me with the answer, please.

I can't recall any explosion sounds of Kaboom either. But I did hear loud sounds like water being poured over a hot frying pan with sounds of evaporation intensified if that makes any sense. Beautiful capture of this quiet explosions. Aloha
