Description

Today we drove a short while to the coast for a day at the beach, heading through Camargue territory, which is famous for its beautiful wild white horses. The scenery was stunning, as was the untamed wildlife which inhabits it. I was keeping my eyes keenly peeled for any sign of these wonderful creatures as we made our way through their lands, camera perched on my lap ready to leap into action (I wasn't driving), but nothing.. that is until the return journey. The postcards seen in the coastal town we visited really whet my appetite and I was beginning to get disappointed we'd travel to the area and miss out on a great photo opportunity. But our luck changed on the return journey as we headed back through the natural expanses as we spotted a group of the wild Camargue horses galloping across a field to our left, towards the road where we were. So duly we (along with the odd other car containing photographers keen for the shot) pulled over, jumped out and legged it across the road just in time to get the tail end of the 'stampede'. We were separated by a large stream and I didn't have time to mess about with camera settings (should have had it in Servo focus but unfortunately didn't so had to keep refocusing on the moving horse) and fired off a bunch of shots as they sped past, of which this was clearly the best, and with which I was satisfied enough that I could consider the journey thoroughly worth getting covered in sand and slightly sunburned in the interim period =) If you're not familiar with them, maybe do a quick google search and you'll find plenty more info and more impressive pictures than I can provide here, but hope you enjoy my offering, taken with my dad's latest Tamron lens (28-300 VR) with which I've been very impressed during this trip. Sorry I haven't been commenting as much as usual - I am on holiday after all and not spending much time at a computer, but I'll be making a conscious effort tomorrow to catch up a bit ;) Have a great night everyone! Adam

Nice job considering the circumstances... focus is spot on and the image looks great - nice impact through the composition and clarity. Looks like you got the panning down too ;)

Wild horses have a fire in the blood that shows in the way they carry themselves. This is really a free-feeling shot.

I was alone driving near Death Valley Ca. and seen a sign warning about wild horses.I did not think I would be lucky to see any but as I looked to the side I saw a stallion with 8-10 mares.as soon as I stopped the car, they ran like crazy and I had my camera on the wrong setting losing the opportunity you nailed the capture perfect.outstanding action
