Description

Hello all ~! Back from my visit at my Mom's house in Mi. Had a wonderful relaxing stay with her at her beautiful new home and celebrated her 70th B-day. The second week into my visit we took a drive to Nappanee ,Indiana Amish country where it seems time has stopped from over a century ago and a simple life is preserved- a life nearly forgotten in today's fast paced world. We visited an Amish farm and went to see a play Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical, Carousel there. Had a great time and took lots of pics of the farm . It started to rain mid afternoon and I got completly drenched taking pictures lol . So when we were driving home my Mom stopped to get gas . I ran behind the gas station to capture the rainbow over the Amish farm and fields of corn , just my luck there was an Amish buggy and horse there! The sky and light were amazing and I hoped my Mom didn't mind me taking off on her. The farmer in suspenders and tall muddy boots( reminded me of a civil war outfit in fact) then return to his buggy (with his lunch from the gas station store) . I was surprised he actually said hi to me when I pointed at the rainbow above -he was so friendly ! Puzzled by his greeting as Amish usually do not talk to the "English" ,I asked the bearded farmer if he was Amish. He said "Nope , you see I bought this here rig from the Amish farm next door I told myself if and when gas got over 3 bucks a gallon I would up and buy me a horse and buggy, not gonna pay those prices". Then he said, " saves money, why don't you get one"? , I replied uhm great idea would love to have a horse but I don't think that horse and buggy would do very well on the southern Cal freeways !!!" LOL!!!! Have missed you all will try and get caught up on comments soon ( will be harder though my Mom got me these long fingernails almost impossible to type with :oO) ... Love to ALL!!! ((( BIG HUGS ))) ~Kimmers ! ♥ :O)

Glad you're back, Kims!!! Gad, your mother is young enough to be my daughter! Splendid, stellar capture of the Amish horse and buggy contrasted against the farm silos and all, Kimmie! Love that ambiance. And it could easily pass for an oil painting. BTW, I heard on the radio that the Amish are spreading out to other states. I wouldn't be surprised to see their horse and buggies on the 5 and 405 freeways some day. Better than paying four (4) bucks a gallon for gas.

It's gotta be the one of the top ten most impossible photos I've ever seen. Memories of the midwest come flooding back. '-) In Amish: "thy photo is the humblest I've ever seen." But undoubtedly real at the same time! Congratulations for such a jaw dropping example, with a real horse and buggy, or is that a Phaeton?

I've always wanted to see Amish country! This is very beautiful and your postwork make it even more special! You know... I could have a buggy where I live, but my husband wouldn't let me have the horse to pull it!!! LOL :P Hugs!
