Description

Hello All~! Have you ever stood somewhere and it almost didn't seem real ? This beautiful beach in south west Michigan with clouds that seemed to go on and on forever and waves that were a large as an ocean was one of those days that I will not soon forget !!! This was a Sunday morning on Wako beach where my Mom attends church -her Foursquare church is held in a rented beach clubhouse type place on the sand and close to the water . The pastor is a laid back lake surfer of 40 years- lol he couldn't wait to go surfing after service that day so cut it short!! He kept looking out at the waves and said "after church we are having a board meeting "!!!(-surfboard meeting ) . He was one of the first lake surfers on Lake Mich in the 60's and gave me an interesting book about it. LOL I am from southern California and couldn't believe they surf in the lake ...!!! so that beach church got out and I headed out to where this was captured . I liked the church but admit had a hard time sitting still through church with camera in hand as I stared out the window and saw these amazing clouds and lapping waves that caught my full attention. There was this little tiki umbrella /drink stand far off in front of a beach property that I could barley see that caught my eye . Couldn't wait to go check it out . I climbed up the dunes & walked through tall windswept grasses ,past all the many scattered boats and summer paths and stood here and shot this . Soon a gentle summer storm came though. This was my favorite day and place this summer~! (Sometimes its a challenge to get all you see and feel- captured in bright sunlight light with my little power shot pocket cam... tried to get it as best as I could with the little time I had there with my Mom waiting back at the beach clubhouse ). Played with in paint shop a bit today to draw it out...) When I was standing here I felt like I was in a dream- or had dreamed of it- so titled. Happy Labor Day to those of you who celebrate it - relax and enjoy the day!!! Thanks for all your time and comments !! Love to all!!! ((( BIG HUGS ))) ~ ♥ ~Kimmers ! :O)

Great story! I had no idea surfing occured on Lake Michigan. Wow! Door County is one of my favorite places to visit and I've seen waves there but not like this. As for the photo, it perfectly captures your mood and vision. It's a gorgeous scene. That grass looks so soft. And I love how you framed it. As usual, this is sublime work.

Beautiful. Almost surreal even. That seagull is just right even. And the water looks so inviting. Do you have a FlickR page? Li

The pastor is a true surfer, one eye always on the waves! I know your feelings exactly about hanging out at the beach. My favorite pastime as you can probably tell from my gallery posts. Looks like such an easy going place, and I bet you wish you had all day here! Lovely shot Kimmy! Aloha~

What a wonderful image, Kimmie! I can only echo what has already been said ... that it looks more like a tropical island than Lake Michigan! Wonderfully post work and wonderful narrative!

Wow! Incredible capture and interesting to see surf at this place. I can see myself pulling up a lazy beach chair along side that umbrella like shade and taking the whole day off, maybe five days off. Excellent shot. Aloha
