Description

This was actually closer to 8:30, but that title sounds better. Last weekend some of my favoritest friends and I went camping at Van Buren State Park on Lake Michigan. I was lucky enough to wake up early (I work standard business hours, so my internal clock's pretty used to that.) and wandered down to the beach. The sun wasn't high enough to reach the beach, yet, but was illuminating the incoming waves. I was captivated by that effect, and tried mostly unsuccessfully to capture it on my camera. Here's one of my first shots of that morning.

Awwww! This is SO incredibly beautiful and serene. And apparently, you lucked..getting to absorb it alone..uninterrupted by the presence of others. Oh, I dunno..I just prefer my nature-absorbing moments that way. Chalk it up to my sometimes very isolative tendencies. As for capturing it...nothing unsuccessful about it. It's entirely perfect. And I really love the elongated, rather horizontal presentation. It's hard to envision it any other way really. So, here's to exquisite moments...the singular self..and nature. It just doesn't get any better than that. Thanks for the peek into the experience. :)

Lovely quiet vista! lol @ calling 8am "early" When I go to the beach I am naturally up at 5 - 5:30, a very quiet time to stroll a mostly deserted beach and see the gentle day slowly lighten in... cup of coffee in hand and seashells collected in a bag. =) Sounds like you had a wonderful vacation with your friends~

Gods, I actually MISS Lake Michigan...and this is a great shot, albeit from a perspective you can't find near the regions of the lake I'm familiar with. This is a great shot, especially in terms of the light and color contrasts. The POV is absolutely wonderful! I'm glad I saw this!
