Description

Still another photo from my little trip to Van Buren State Park, on Lake Michigan. For this one I'd climbed the steep dunes to look down on the beach and the people. Not far from this beach is a large (and free) public beach that is usually jammed with people, but this beach is part of a State Park, which means you have to pay a (very small) fee to enter; which does a wonderful job of keeping the numbers down. Later in the day more people came, but I wouldn't say that the beach was ever "crowded", or even remotely so. What is best about the Great Lakes is that you have many of the benefits of the large open water you get at an ocean beach, but none of the salt! It makes for great swimming.

Beautiful capture. You even get the benefits of waves, here. Reminds me of the unspoiled areas on The Outer Banks of NC.

Nice shot~ Looks like a very pleasant place to be! =) My favorite Beach in northern Fl was in St. Andrews State Park..it was actually voted the best beach in the USA...the next year the hurricane hit PCB and totally wrecked the beaches.

This is quite remarkable - this almost looks like a view from one of the many bluffs on Long Island's North Shore facing the Long Island Sound. The Great Lakes are truly impressive inland seas. (Some wonderful lake effect snows as well!!) The waves are almost oceanic in appearance. Nice capture!!
