Description
Every now and then there's some weirdness going on out there at the Hollow. When the creek runs high, it works away at the roots of trees growing along it, and creates hollowed out areas underneath the trees, causing them to topple sometimes. It wears away at the roots creating some strange shapes. I saw this sort of clawed hand reaching out from among the roots of one tree, and wondered what it was trying to catch. The tree looked hungry, was it someting left over from times when magic was commonplace in the world? I kept the dogs away from it, just in case, (-:
Thank you all for being so kind and understanding as I posted pictures of my angel, Gracie Anne. Thank you for all the wonderful comments, and the faves.

What a fantastic shot! It makes me think of the Lord of the Rings and the strange forest that they went through. Fabulous capture.

Marvelous image. How exciting that you discovered this and was able to capture it and share it with others. It might have gone unseen for centuries. I like the prose in your story, too.

Tree roots etc. are one of my favorite things to look at. So much atmosphere and mystery about them. Reminds me of Halloween stories. Nice find. Aloha

I do see the hand... I think the tree is trying to grab ahold of the Earth so it doesn't fall.... or....The limb right under it looks like a leg... The tree is trying to get a leg... Good thing you kept your dog away.

Fantastic capture and presentation, Rita!!!

Fantastic capture, Rita. The roots look exactly like a clawed hand, very strange indeed. Yes, you are quite right, there is magick there-my great grandmother often related tales from her native Albania pertaining to the tree spirits. They are generally known as Naiads. That is why we knock on wood, to contact the magickal entities that dwell within the trees, for luck. Excellent work!!!!!

That is so cool! It is amazing what nature can do and so interesting that if you looked at it at a different angle it wouldn't look like a hand, but maybe something. But as like you, I would keep the dogs away, you never know, it could be one of the creek trolls playing games. :o) Have a great and peaceful one.

I love things like this. I have a photo of what for all the world looks like a claw-hand forming the roots of a tree. I took it some years ago, but I went back once or twice soon after, but never found it again - even though I had visited that area ever since childhood and on a regular basis and almost knew every tree anyway.

Rita this is so wild and looks almost like a scene from a movie, great eye to pick it out

It takes a superb artists eye to truely see when looking! Impressive hind captured, displayed, and explained very nicely. I can image the root hand is reaching down to scrach an itch on the knee or the root leg below. . . .
