Description

First there was one...and then there were many ! If somebody can help me to identify these critters, I've tried and failed. I like to call them "fire-beetles"; once a year they fly in and take over this tree with red berries, in my garden.

Busy little buggers, I hope they leave some fruit for other critters ! Amazing colours and they also remind me of fire, so the 'fire-beetle' tag is very appropriate, kool nature capture ! ~Cheers~

Saw the first image, then had to rub my eyes when I cam to the second one. You sure captured a flock of something colorful.

The power of "word of mouth." Once the word gets out that a restaurant is open and serving great food, the entire community turns out for a meal. :-) Wonderful shots. Great macros.

Oh my they did increase quickly. Wonderful colourful macros. These little chaps surely love what this tree has. They remind me of large ladybirds but I'm afraid I have no idea what they are. At least they aren't ugly.

First there was one and then there were many she says. I definitely was not expecting the "many" shot, lol. I do not know what they are, but with such distinctive markings and color, I should be able to find out when I get some time to research. If I find out, I will let you know. Great find and captures. Cool bugs. Thanks for sharing. Lee

Great shot! I dunno what kinda bugs they are, but as long as they don't exterminate your garden, they're ok!

They resemble 'Lady Bugs', but appear to be much larger and longer than what we have here in the U.S., and knowing the varieties of insects that inhabit Australia, who knows- you guys have the most amazing specimens on the planet.
