Description

AlooooooHa! In my last image I gave you a close up shot of the this plume. I've pulled back on the lens to try and get as much of the plume in as I can with this 24-70mm lens. I am still on the bench, within 20-25 ft. of the plume, and my okolei is still puckering. In my nervous state I have tilted the horizon because I was focusing on the foreground. My bad, I decided not to straighten this image and leave it as it was shot. Once again you can see the mini vertex's coming out of the plume. I have never seen a vortex go side ways like this, but again, it's the first day on the job for me. I think it's time to go now, as I can't seem to concentrate being this close to bursting into flames. The constant fear of a lava shower reminds me of how human I am. In my next post I venture around to the left side of the plume and get some shots of the lava as it reaches it's final destination, the pacific ocean. Mahalo's to all who have expressed their concern over my safety and how crazy I must be to venture this close. Rest assured I don't have a death wish, but sometimes you just gotta! Thanks for taking the time to follow this series and I hope your enjoying a little slice of the Big Island...Peace to all! Aloha~

I haven't been commenting but I have been following the entire series. I am just in awe of your shots. One of my "Bucket List" items is to get to Hawaii to see just this type of event and oh how I wish I was there. Your shots are the next best thing.

Its amazing how the volcano can generate these little tornado like clouds along with lightning at times. It was just to hard to head back and leave this area. Very impressive shooting my friend. Excellent job. Aloha

I can't believe you hung around for more than one shot. I still think your a macadamia, and from the sound of it, a slightly toasted one, as well. :^D Fascinating capture once again. It's soooooo freaky looking with that vortex thingy swooping like that. It looks like it's sucking on itself for some more energy! Brrrrr. Creepy! M :^)

Photographers are known by their artistic eye.... your eye and shots have brought scenes that I bet a very small percentage of my ancesters never seen. I truely feel blessed with seeing images that are new to me - I'm 45 and have seen lots of lava pictures in books like national geographic, but nothing like this - for all the world that has not seen your amazing pictures, I ask you to please contact national geographic so more of the world can see your shots - and, you just might get some chump change - lol ...one other thing, I read "lightning strikes" - I don't recall seeing any in your uploads - did I miss it? Do you have any photos of this? and did you or are you going to post them? Yeah, I know, I'm always asking questions, but that's how we get knowledge and that's how you truely know I'm amazed with your work. Once again... YOU HAVE BEEN FAVORITIZED!!!
