Description

AlooooooHa! Alrighty then...here I am within 20 ft. of the edge. I'm definitely standing on the bench now, and believe me I am more than a little nervous. I'm standing just to the right of the plume. Everything past the black lava in the foreground is ocean. As the hot lava reaches it's final destination into the ocean the large plume is formed. As I had mentioned in one of my previous posts, the plume seems to create it's own little environment. Small lighting strikes were occurring all night from within the plume. Vortex's, or mini tornadoes, or water spouts, appeared out of the plume on a regular basis. I was mesmerized by the sight of these vortex's. Although I would have loved to linger and shoot more shots, the bench as I mentioned before is no place to dawdle. With the warmth under my shoes getting stronger, it's time to move from this spot. I am in my mind safely out of the splatter zone which is occurring off camera. But I know that one big explosion could send lava raining down on me. I have one more shot of a vortex I will post next time. Thanks for coming along and I hope your still enjoying the view. Big Mahalo's for those who commented and favorited my last post. For all of those who have stopped in for a peek, thanks for looking~ Aloha~

Buddy? Where you are standing, I got pictures that lava went splattering beyond you....whew! Those tornado like clouds are something else especially when lighting strikes out of it. You got me nervous watching your foot prints. You got bragging rights. Excellent. Aloha

Aww man I could have taken that shot...however I'd also have to change my underwear right after I finished running ( in total fear to the nearest airport ) lol. Please post more if you got them... Please. Kell +5 for having the shear metal balls to get that close.

Dave... I've asked you a few questions... don't you like me anymore? - lol... I know, your feet are probably still too hot to site mail me back... I'm still here... waiting.... I've got an idea for you, to try and keep a friend out of danger... call around at some hobby places and see if you can rent one of those remote control helicopters and get some wild pictures... remember it's hot, so fly too close or too long in hot areas... I've always wanted to put my camera on a remote control copter and fly it straight up from the property to get some images - still haven't. YOU HAVE BEEN FAVORITIZED - AGAIN!!!

So...when you retreated to safety and in the moment you realized where you had gone and what you had done...did ya almost faint??? And you are not going to do that again, right? :::sigh::: So glad you are safe!!! Look at Sharky, HE was worried!!! Totally INCREDIBLE shot!!!! One seldom captured I would bet! =)

Omigod... Not only is that thing incredibly scary looking, but it also has lightning and tornadoes in it????????????????????? Are you kidding me? And you get up close to it? Wow... you're a real macadamia, ya know that? LOL. Just kidding. I probably would do exactly the same thing. Although taking a lava shower doesn't exactly sound very appealing, so I doubt I would've lingered more than a second or two. I kinda prefer the way I look with hair on my head, lol. Anyway, awesomeness again, Na'e. Mwahalo! -M :^)
