Description

Well with the beginning of fall approaching also comes football, and while I have always been a baseball fan, you really can't live in east Tennessee without picking up a little of the spirit here, the whole state seems to turns orange LOL and then you find yourself humming the lines to a song called Rocky Top, that I also had to learn to tolerate, which my daughter as a joke when she knows I've heard it on the radio one too many times will play on her viola. The radio station I listen to starts a 100 day countdown which goes something like this. ITS 54 more days till its FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE !Then they play that song again good ole Rocky Top, Rocky Top Tennessee! so its here they played UCLA (California) last night and lost 24-27 Opps

GO VOLS!

Waiting for Fall

Great POV and framework in this neat capture of the tiny section of the stadium, Lynell. I listened to the UCLA/Tennessee game last night. What a thriller! Field goal attempts galore. Went into overtime before the Bruins pulled it out. We have UCLA and USC down here, but even with a multimillion person population, Los Angeles doesn't even have a pro football team!!! Even tiny Green Bay has one. What an embarrassment.

I first heard "Rocky Top" at the Sheraton on Singer Island, Florida by a group calling themselves FTD. I had a more sinister interpretation to FTD than Frank, Tom and Diane. Maybe if I'd known more about educated Tennessee people I might have caught a link to Vanderbilt and a young woman who sat beside me at work. Or maybe to the lady Physics Phd whose husband tried unsuccessfully to keep us apart on JMEM. I guess it was Arnold Engineering Development Center that was the staff that music played on. I stopped by the entrance on the way back up from Florida but the guard shack was quite a bit deeper so my acquaintance there is no greater than at Fort Drum, New York. Football? I assume you mean Linebacker?

well I'm not a big football fan, but the shot is big in bold blues and well-placed reds, and it's bright and luminous and inspires actual awe for the great old stadium and all its looming structures. Even football haters loved the crispness of fall during the game, so I understand your family's & state's feeling about the season. As for loving baseball, hey the Cubs may actually go somewhere this year, so while everyone is watching football, you can root for the Cubs and hope, along with 9 billion other people, that they don't lose at the last minute. A vivid shot, and lots of fun too.

Fun shot. High School football was bigger than pro ball in my little town when I was going up. I think I only missed 1 game in the 4 years in high school and that was because I got food poisoning the day of the game. :-)

Argh! Ronnie has turned into a Borg. Not a sport fan at all Lynell, but that doesn't stop me from admiring the shot of the Stadium, like you say though, the letters are a bit fuzzy. Love the clouds top left, I can see a few faces in there, plus a pig. Not your usual high standard, but still an enjoyable image. Bravo!!!!!

Looks like I won't be telling the 'Why do folks from TN always wear orange,' here. More of an NFL fan than a college ball fan.
