I can't explain why, but this reminds me of the film-maker, Tarkovsky. Maybe it's the sense of life inside a single object: that, as 'outdated' as this fruit is, it seems to speak with a quiet inner life. The rustic grain of the wood, filled with the lines of old life, seems perfectly at home with this fruit/vegetable, and the meeting is natural and filled with mysteries it'll only partly reveal. As Koosie says, "a great story in a deceptively simple image": Deceptively simple because it's really quite complex. It could be in a scene from Zerkalo, which for me, at least, is a great compliment.
