Description

"Blues By The Bay", the festival I went to this last weekend is held at a waterfront park on Humboldt Bay in Eureka, California. This bridge spans the bay, goes out to the Samoa Peninsula, a small community. It's a unique place, parallels the dunes along the ocean. There's another small town called Manila, also along the dunes--interesting names, with no connection to the places they're named after. Oh, and it WAS very windy that day, as I walked back to the festival site, about half a mile to the left (west), it nearly blew me over. I read the next day there were some gusts of over 40 mph!! You can't see here too well, but there were big whitecaps on much of the water.

Sure looks breezy to me, I see whitecaps and their precursors. Nice composition here, the bridge makes a wonderful line to move the eye...great shot!

Is that graffiti I see on the first support pillar Marilyn? it amazes me some of the places they get to just to scrawl meaningless messages. Excellent capture, great pov, the image is in theme with the Blues by the Bay, theres plenty of blues in it. Bravo!!!!!

"Lake Worth reports light chop with seas two to five feet over the Gulfstream" is what this looks like to me. A typical blustery day when Genoas and spinnakers are not appropriate while hull speed limits may be reached.

Again, stark light and dark contrasts in this shot, which is quite typical of your work. This span spans quite a way across troubled waters, Marilyn!
