Description

The first signs of autumn are now everywhere. This is an unusual fungus I had never seen before until I spotted this at my local nature reserve. I am not 100% with the ID but this is the most likely. Thanks for your response to my Bryce piece yesterday "Misty Valley Sunset"

Wow yes. I have never seen this one although I have seen the white form. I just looked it up and I believe it belongs to the Dacrymycetales family. In my book it is called The Staghorn. I never ever knew the huge extent of fungi varieties until my Daughter had her A levels and we went out in the woods, hunting and painting our finds. Love the litte spider! Fascinating subject Kevin. Thanks.

This is a fabulous look at this fungus. The fullness is kept and the composition of one above the other is wonderful.
