Description

I scanned the "sky" for Skyhooks, large, twenty-foot plus wingspan, bird-like demons with a sharp hook hanging down they used to snag souls and Lifers alike. It's what they ate. I spotted a few in the far distance. No problem. I broke cover and ran for the dense vegetation of the Dead Forest. I didn't make it. -From "Hellcop" by David Burton Continuing work on the eventual cover for the next edition of Hellcop. I really didn't like the vision of the last Skyhooks, they just seemed too cartoonish to me. So I emailed the author and asked him for his thoughts (what a concept). These are more hawklike than the last image, and I scaled back the hook and added a few more details. Models rendered in Zbrush, background and compositing in Photoshop. As always, suggestions are welcome.

Better scene and birds. Do they have only one big claw each, or two?
