This really made me think. Why is it called this? Is it because....A? or....B? Can Nikolay see the faces that I can see? Does it matter if we see different things? Is it important that the artist intends X and the viewer receives X? or will the receipt of Z do just as well? Well if the intention was Enigma, it has certainly been a great success. Thankyou for the grey matter work-out, my friend!!!

Strangely I see a profile of my Gracie Anne .. my dog .. who has moved on to the next portion of her journey. I think each of us is meant to take what we need from these abstracts. That's the beauty of them.

people who know me know I'm a great fan of decay (Koosie will agree with this!), because decay isn't actually decay, but the beginning of new processes. You've captured the simplicity of decaying stone/plaster, with the beauty of layers chipping off from the wall—the way they curl and overlap, etc. You've captured the lines of the plasterer's tool, ie, the way it leave typically striated grooves across the surface; and you've captured a segment which looks like a topographical map of Europe (!) (there's a touch of Italy there, I swear!). Your palette of muted earth-hues give the sense of repose—if a wall can have repose. But you're a photographer so you know that all things can have repose along with a host of other 'emotions', and you've captured that feeling here. Mysterious, complex and to my eye, very restful.
