BIO Hi, I am Gun Legler from Sweden. I live together with my cat Simon in a little village near Gothenburg On the outside I am old, but young inside :-) For so long I can remember, I have enjoyed expressing myself through any kind of art or craft. Until I was 40 I worked as a child psychologist and pre-school teacher, but after that I said goodbye to my profession and began studying at an art school. There I stayed for four years, mainly learning Graphic art (etching, dry needle and linoleum cut). I was a lousy oil painter, that medium did not fit me at all, watercolor I liked better. For many years I made collages of different kind, watercolor and textile. I grew up with a mother that sewed and a father that built violins, so I early fell in love with textures of many kinds. I have now abandoned making textile collages, but I realize that I work much in the same way with my computer art. I take a piece here and a piece there and try to make a whole of it. And I am madly in love with textures of all kinds, I can sit for hours just playing with different colors, textures and filters, making backgrounds just for fun (and for upcoming images). I work very much by intuition when I make an image, experimenting wildly with layers, textures, color and light. But the form is equally important, thats what Graphic school taught me. I have seldom a clear inner image when I start creating, it is more a feeling I want to express. The process can be quite unconscious to me for a long time. The image gradually takes form, and become clearer to me. What I want with my images is to reach the feelings of the viewers, to make them look into their own inner being and respond in any way, regardless of which feeling is evoked.

I am Gun's daughter Lena (zitalena@gmail.com). I am so, so sorry to tell you all that mom passed Tuesday morning, Feb 8 2022, Swedish time. No panic, no pain, no regrets. So peaceful. I tried to get a message about this on my moms latest picture, but now I can't find it. But now I have her computer and can log in. Please email me if you want. Thanks to all. Mom really loved the community!! Her gallery will live on. I have changed the address to mine, because me and my brother really would LOVE to keep her gallery open. Love to all.

in full-size and in the regular version the colors are fine. It's a very soft image. And as Ilona says, you have a canvas-texture throughout, but very softly. Your treatment of the face is ever so gentle (very subtle strokes) and your use of darks is quite subtle. A gentle & quiet image. And on my screen—a not-so-large laptop—it looks very full and real. Everyone else seems to think so too. A very loving first-entry for your new monitor.

excellent!

It looks lovely. Colors are natural, contrasts are good, and there is a softness that is more subtle than on your previous monitor, but still evident. Perhaps the "canvas" looks a little more like mesh with this new monitor. It's a lovely painting of this precious baby.

Hej sotnos. I understand what you're going through. I just had to recalibrate my monitor recently. You have my sympathies!!!...Okay, regarding this pic, of course, it's lovely, and she's absolutely precious. Beautiful work as always.... But you want to know about the contrast and color, etc. so I'll just tell you exactly what I see. I'd say the contrast is a bit heavy on the underside of her face, 'neath her chin. I can see 3 prominent lines of gradation there, almost like 3 stripes. The skin color on my monitor is a soft rose/mauve pink with reddish to brown-umber in the shadow areas. There is also the faintest hint of green/yellow/brown on the top of her hand and on the chin,( as there should be ), but it is extremely subtle... much more subtle than I've seen in previous work of yours, I would say. Lastly, the brushstrokes on her cheek may be a bit more noticeable than you intended.( It reminds me of when someone has lines on their face after sleeping on something wrinkled. ) I hope this helps you. I really appreciated it when you were honest with me about mine recently, ( of Archer ). Good luck with everything, sotnos, and if I can be of any further help to you, please let me know. All my very best, din van -M :^)

One of the most precious things...a sleeping baby. Fantastic job! Looks fine to me.

Well, first of all, let me just say that she is an adorable, sweet thing :) I think that the contrast is rather dark around the edges and perhaps that you could run a skin smoothing filter on her cheeks. Otherwise, it is very nice.

High to mildly contrasted, not disturbing at all depending what you had in mind. Excellent work on the effects.

A precious and beautiful baby. The canvas texture is almost too much. Not as soft as your usual compositions.

Getting used to a new monitor is difficult. To me, this looks darned close to perfect, perhaps not as soft as your previous works, still the charm of the child is wonderfully captured ..
