Description
The title is for PJ, I know she likes that word 'Plethora'.#;0)
Another shot taken at the Fire Brigade Open Day, the parade ground at the Fire Station isn't very large and it being a main fire station less room is available to show vehicles. They have to be confined to one side of the yard. Here is a line up of some of the visiting fire appliances, some old some not so old. Whilst Fire Engines world wide are predominantly red, the armed forces vehicles in England are green. The Royal Air Force vehicle shown here is privately owned and travels around the country to take part in vintage rallies and open days like this. Armed forces fire fighting vehicles are know as Green Godess's, and have been used in the past when our Fire Fighters have been on strike. Thankfully that has not happen often, I can only remeber them having been used twice. It is possible that it happened more than twice but that is all that I remember.
I am way behind on my ebots as my machine has been running rather slow for the last few days, I think I will have to do a clean up and defrag over night, see if I can't speed her up a bit. I may miss signing a few of you but I will be looking at all posts. Please bare with me.
Thanks for stopping by for a look and for any comments you care to make, I do appreciate each and every one.
May the sun shine and the rain fall for whoever needs which ever one.

Great to see these! I think I may have told you that my Mum, who was Leeds Aux Fire Service chief's chauffeur, was the only person in that division who reverse the Green Goddesses back into the old stable yard where they were kept!

I forgot to mention that one of my sisters in law(Edna) used to drive a Green Godess in the Blitz. She used to tell me some good stories about her time driving them.

Great shots, over here, some of our fire trucks are now this wild chartreuse; they say it's more visible than red!!

Hope things get running back to normal speed (or faster). Great angle from this side of the yard. I took a couple of shots the other end and found I had a lot of white sky. You have managed to get a good amount of the engines in view. I can remember the strikes Jeff way back they called it the 'Winter of discontent' about Christmas 77 and into 78. (the rest is history lol) I know the Goddesses have been used in more recent years, they had a big overhaul of the fire service only 5-6 years back and the firemen had flags and banners with a big Y on them (I still don't know what that Y stood for!) Great stuff Pal, Bravo!
