Description

Hey, I don't usually open up the comments for both critical and non-critical. Most of the time I don't need a critique. Art is subjective. But, in this case, I need critiques. Not sarcasim, but a critique. I'm trying to make a demon teacher. She is suppose to be just a tad pretty. I need this for a project I am doing for my digital imaging 2 course. So, opinions would be very helpful. I have labeled each render. Which one do you think looks the best? It will be on a flame background, but not the one shown. ~Stacey~

Hi Stacey The monochrome hair in 1 and 4 doesn't look right to me. 2 and 3 are both good... 2 is definitely the more demonic, but 3 is perhaps a tad prettier, even if it's only skin deep. Izi

I happen to like the monochromatics of the hair in #1, and those tonal elements of clarity the best. Of all, I like 4 least. It feels very incongruent to the eye. 2 is less incongruent to me, but again, something indistinct about it. If the tad pretty thing is key, then #3's lighting and tones bring a semi-softness to her face. Good luck on this. I'm no afficionado by any stretch of the imagination, but hope this helps at least a little.

Hope it's not too late to submit feedback! I know you need this for your course. I like 2 & 3. The lighting in both highlights her face in such a way in which there is attractiveness in her features, but also bear the effects of a flaming surrounding. In #4, however, she simply appears to be a red-skinned creature. #1 doesn't reflect the flames at all. IF you twisted my arm and MADE me pick between 2 & 3 (lol), I would choose 3. I love the lighting in this one especially because it not only makes her appear to be engulfed in a fiery background, but shows her features more distinctly than in #2. Also, I personally think that no matter what type of flame background you choose, #3 will seem to 'belong' in any of them more than #2. (Because #2 has a distinct redness about it, whereas #3 could easily fit into a scene lit by something as simple as campfire or a scene immersed in flames).
