Description

It's hard to tell in this image but this bird is nearly 3 times the size of the squirrel. I was amazed at the size of him! He and his two companions (out of the camera's frame here) come everyday and bunches of crows and blackbirds follow. He reminds me of a drill Sargent as he struts around the area and calls incessantly to the other birds. I have watched him for hours as he surveys the area and I have rarely seen him eat, he mostly watches the others. When he decides its time to leave. all the others leave with him, very strange to me so again he reminds me of the Sargent with his platoon close behind. I have tried unsuccessfully to capture him with the other two Ravens he comes with, but he and those two will sit high in the trees talking for hours. Thanks for looking and for previous comments!

They are a pain in the butt to may other creatures around at times. But they are really smart birds.Like taking a nut and dropping it in a right turn lane so a car will run over it to eat in between cars coming so they do not have to find a way to open it

the biggest crows I have seen were at Grand Canyon and they were begging for a handout.they looked like skinny chickens.this one of yours is no slouch.I pity the squirrel if it makes him mad

funny how different species manage to cooperate. like, in Africa I saw animals sharing a singe water source. a good example to us who still believe that we are the top creation.
