Description

These fungi where not difficult to spot you could see them several hundred metres away. They looked like an unstable pile of earthenware dinner plates, the largest well over 1ft ( 30cm ) across and bursting out all around a 5ft dia. tree stump. There are two species the Giant Polypore and some small zoned polypores I think?

Nice looking pic! An interesting subject, as I hadn't really thought to look at fungi that closely, but it does have an intriguing shape. Good work!

Great shots! I love this time of year! (well actually I love every time of year). Don't give yourself a worse chest by lying on the damp ground too much!

Couldn't you just feel that cushion of moss under your hand Kevin. Beautiful photograph. You do have the special way of making one feel that they are there at the time:-)

Nice capture. Unfortunately I only find these things bursting forth from doomed trees here in Southern California. It is my experience that these are a sign of the trees' last days. JDoc.
