Description

I almost called this "Baby Steps - Again": This is the first free-hand drawing I've done in 40 years, and the first-ever with electronic media! I've occasionally had to draw small details in my 3d renders, so I got to wondering if I still had anything in me. A bit crude, but hey I'm thinking I might have enough to actually be trainable LOL... I used Fireworks for this, but the drawing tools and brushes are kinda primitive, so I have CS3 on the way... Thanks for looking!

Not bad at all, I think the hair looks great.

Very nice, after a little more practice you'll think you never stopped. You could take this image to one of 2 extremes. Either use the forthcoming Photoshop brushes to enhance the details, or posterize the image and make it ultra-stylized, like the ones prevalent in the 1960s. Anyway, you've still got it!

Larry this is incredible and knowing the story behind it and how long it has been for you to do such art made it even more wonderful

It looks great - I don't think you've lost your touch in all that time. It's good to see you give it a go and this image just proves beyond a doubt that you still have an amazing talent! Can't wait to see more!!!

I agree with jandunne, this one is right on the edge and could go either way. Personally I think it's a great candidate for a poster affect. For a first go after a long absence this is pretty darn good. Especially the hair which is so difficult to paint in. Knowing that you can do this if you have to is really gonna increase your latitude.

Great light and shade in this - you'll enjoy using Photoshop CS! The proportions may be just a little off, but as a first attempt this is excellent. You can always use a Poser character to trace from to get the proportions right - I believe that is what version 1 was actually designed for! How times have changed...

This is a a very good start! And you'll LOVE CS3 - I have it and adore it. Together with a tablet it is unbeatable. I have tried sevearal graphic software and another one that is really good, is Paint Shop Pro (Corel) - it was my first love, actually, for doing computer graphics and paint. I look forward to see where you take this painting when you get CS3. :-) (Another great thing about CS3 is that it can import *.obj files and stuff. Way cool!) gun aka redheadgrrl

She looks very confident, I think I need to look at this one regularly to boost my confidence. Many congratulations with this being your first free-hand drawing fo 40 years, but you're showing your age though by telling us that LOL. Hugz and kisses. Toni.
