Description

Yet another image from the children's book about Misty the baby dragon. In this scene, the mom and dad have been worried about the whereabouts of Misty when they spy a bunch of PEOPLE on THEIR mountain. Already upset, they are on their way to confront the intruders... This is probably the scariest picture for young kids in the entire book. It is the only closeup shot of the parents and occurs late in the book, near the end. Yes, sadly, the story is drawing to a close... UPDATE: Many thanks to PhilW who suggested I dial up a bit more displacement texture. Great suggestion Phil, looks good! PLEASE leave a comment, your encouragement keeps me going! FIRST CHAPTER -:- NEXT CHAPTER -:- PREVIOUS CHAPTER Image and story © 2008 Larry Hodge pending registration, U.S. Copyright Office

Great image Larry, they look menacing but not over the top. Should work ok for kids, they see a lot worse now a days. Good idea to use different color of wings.

Brewgirlca is right; they're beautifully rendered (which adults can fully appreciate) but they don't look SO mean or blood-thirsty that parents would hesitate to introduce the book to their kids. I assume the blue-eyed one is Misty's mama.) I think it would do the kids good to see terrific art at a young age; it might whet their appetires to do as much themselfes. Anyway, this is one of the best Misty renditions you've done!

They don't look TOO scary - and anyway, kids like to be a little frightened sometimes (just like adults!). And it is a wonderfully detailed picture of them which people of any age will enjoy!

Great image Larry but I suspect some parents will have problems with it. Brewgirlca is right of course but we live in a time of extremes for sure. Don

Depending on the age group the story is directed at, I think most children would be enthralled with this wonderful dragon picture. I don't think it's in the least way menacing or scary... it shows the beauty and majesty of the dragon and its nature. Beautiful work!!

Nice and lean! Now I like how they are flying just over the roof curving over it - the whip crack of the tail as they clear. Very nice.

Wonderful work, Larry. The Misty book is a great concept and story. Scary parents in this great render... But it looks great...no idea in scaring kids too much. Hope they find Misty.:)+5
