Captain Reeves settled gingerly into the new command chair. The synthleather squeaked with newness and quickly contoured itself to her form as she swung the control panel bar into place. It locked into position in front of her and lit up as the retina scan assured the right person was sitting there. "The last shuttle is clear, Captain," her new first officer said. "Comm, do we have clearance?" she asked. The communications officer nodded. "Aesir Anchorage says she's all ours." "By the numbers, people," Reeves ordered, bringing up her own checklist as one-by-one the bridge stations called off ships readiness. "Helm: Go flight!" "Tactical: Go flight!" "Engineering: Go flight!" "Sensors: Go flight!" "Science: Go flight!" "CAG: Go flight!" "Communications: Go flight!" "We are green across the board, Captain," her first mate said, finishing the ritual. "Release gravitational moorings," Reeves ordered. "Aye, aye Captain," the helmsman responded, as a slight sensation of motion made itself felt in everyone's belly. It was just for an instant, as the ship's internal gravity kicked over and did its job.
