Description

This a shot of both the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges. I got it as we were approaching SFO--you come in from the north, make a wide bank to the west, then head south. They end up almost over San Jose as they near the runway to land straight in. Once in a while, if the winds change they'll land from the west, but that's pretty rare. The island between the bridges is Alcatraz.

I must be the most lucky person I know because I have ALWAYS come in from the west and it seems I could stick my fingers out of the plane's window and trail my fingers in the surf! Wonderful view you got of both bridges.

Excellent shot. The few times I've landed there, it's been cloudy, so I've never seen this view.

Awesome shot Marilyn, love the blue haze over everything, and no wing in this one blocking the view. Excellent work, I'm beginning to regret never having flown with all these airborne captures of yours. Superb image. Bravo!!!!!

The engineers told me to look for the Hyperion Plant which I took to be a type of water treatment facilitiy but is actually a place on the bay.

Wonderful capture! Having spent more hours than I can count driving across all the terrain in this shot, I find it fascinating to see it from above

It only takes a tiny corner of This great big world to make the place we love; My home upon the hill, I find I love you still, I've been away, but now I'm back to tell you... San Francisco, open your golden gate You let no stranger wait outside your door. San Francisco, here is your wanderin' one Saying "I'll wander no more." Other places only make me love you best, Tell me you're the heart of all the golden west. San Francisco, welcome me home again; I'm coming home to go roaming no more! Perfect song for you, Marilyn! Swell aerial capture while coming in for the landing!
